
This is, however, about more than the economic viability (or otherwise) of wind turbines. It is about a unique habitat. Unique for many plants and animals. Unique in the heritage it provides and unique in the tale it can tell in historical terms.
Click on the image above for a larger version and you can see the plough lines all along the top of the valley. Left over from many centuries ago when crops were grown in Castleshaw valley, they would be totally destroyed by the large lorries needed to ship the huge amounts of concrete and other materials to build the turbines and the support roads.
Why don't we think about renewable energy sources that are more friendly to the environment? They are available, but unfortunately do not produce profit for United Utilities.
